The Washington Times has endorsed Governor Bobby Jindal for Vice President. However, in the Gov’s defense, he’s doing a fine job of denying interest. How do you think this would affect Louisiana? If Governor Jindal becomes the Vice President, Lt. Gov Mitch Landrieu will slide into the Mansion.
Daniel,
Two points.
1) I see the Washington Times as a “cohort” of Bill Kristol, who I have chastised for his call for Governor Jindal to be Vice President.
It is completely irresponsible, maybe worse, for these elites to overlook the damage that would come from Governor Jindal abandoning his pledge to turn Louisiana away from the corruption of Good Old Boy politics that has been nothing less than a plague for Louisiana.
Squashing the hopes of so many at such a critical stage could be likened to the “final straw”.
Some may think it selfish for the (good) residents of Louisiana to resent these calls to steal our Governor, but given the neglect our state has suffered my entire life, not only by those once in power that chose to enrich themselves, but by those like Kristol and those at the Times that could care less what happens to the state of Louisiana.
2) Your use of the word “slide” seems very appropriate. In the most undeserving way, like a snake slivering into an unguarded nest of young chicks, Mitch Landrieu would steal what is good about our state and deliver it back into the very “belly” that has “killed” this state for far too long.
And leaving what for the people of Louisiana?
I agree…we need him in LA to clean up the mess there first and get a little more executive experience under his belt. If he does a good job, then 2012 or 2016 is a shoe in for him.
